New Wildlife Art Section Added To James Fiorentino Website

Here are some of the events James's wildlife artwork has been involved with over the last few years. Please check in for new information on James's work in 2013. You can view James's wildlife portfolio by clicking here. Enjoy!

Beauty of Biodiversity: Birds, Bees and Butterflies
January 10 - March 25, 2011

D&R Greenway Land Trust's new multi-multi-media art exhibition, "Birds, Bees & Butterflies: The Beauty of Biodiversity", is available from January 10 through March 25, 2011, on business hours of business days. These creatures are increasingly endangered by habitat loss. D&R Greenway has worked since 1989 to preserve land in New Jersey.

Its Artists' Reception is January 14, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The Art Exhibition may be seen on business hours of business days. All events free, but call 609-924-4646 to register for Artists' Reception, and to be sure Marie L. Matthews Galleries are not rented on the day of one's prospective visit.

The art ranges from paintings, drawings, photograps and sculpture through video art, digital art and a dance piece. D&R Greenway's new Curator, Diana Moore, has chosen this theme because "these winged creatures are ecological indicators of the lands they inhabit."

Artists include Beatrice Bork, Steven Ferrari, James Fiorentino, Kristin Haraldsdottir, Brenda Jones, Keith Miller, Jo-Ann Osnoe, Jessi Reel, Michael Schweigart, Madelaine Shellaby, Laurinda Stockwell, Adam Uhl, Annelies van Domelen and William Vandever.

All art is for sale. A portion of the procees supports D&R Greenway's Preservation & Stewardship Mission.

Somerset County Park Commission
November 1 - December 12, 2010

James is having a solo exhibition of his wildlife artwork at the Somerset County Parks Commission Environmental Center and opening reception on November 4, 2010. Please RSVP for the event by October 31, 2010.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is located within Lord Stirling Park, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 425 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. The variety of habitats of floodplains, swamps, rivers, intermittent streams, marshes, meadows, and natural and man-made ponds, fields, and forests provide homes for diverse plant and animal populations in this environmentally sensitive park. All are within walking distances of the multi-faceted building. The Great Swamp Exhibit, a swamp vivarium, and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself.

The area was once home to Paleo-Indian groups, the Lenapes, and even a Major General of the Continental Army, Lord Stirling. Recent history, in 1960’s, includes a landmark accomplishment when grassroots citizens group and conservation groups rallied to protect the precious wetlands from becoming an international airport. Consequently, 2,600 acres of land were presented to the Department of the Interior to create the core of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge; the property adjacent to the SCPC Environmental Education Center.

Diverse opportunities abound at the Center. Come hike the 8-½ miles of trails on your own or register for one of the multitude of programs – there are experiences available for all ages! The building is open year round, except for major holidays, 9am to 5pm.
